A Film/TV/Game Composer
Shengyuan Li
Shengyuan Li was born and raised in Shanghai. He studied the piano and classical composers who had a major influence on his work (Bach, Beethoven, Rachmaninov). At the age of 13, he started to learn drum sets. He developed a great interest in percussion and began to learn all percussion instruments such as snare drums, marimba, timpani, triangle, and even traditional Chinese percussions. In the same year, he joined the Shanghai Youth Symphony Orchestra as the principal percussionist and stayed with the orchestra for about eight years. This experience also led him to fall in love with orchestral music and to learn to orchestrate and write orchestral music. At 15, his love for electronic and pop music made him turn to learning music production and synthesizer. Also, he had a deep understanding of various DAW software and effects plug-ins and can operate them skillfully. Understanding that his talents and his own experiences could be combined into a film score. He went to continue his undergraduate music career at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the fall of 2020 in the Technology and Applied Composition Program. Here, he studied with a number of excellent teachers such as Daria Novoliantceva, Lennie Moore, Taurin Barrera.
His work includes rescoring for the Like and Follow (2021), Sprite Fright (2021).
Won the fourth prize in the Leicine international scoring competition.
